Compare electricity and gas rates in your area

If you live in a deregulated energy market, you can choose who supplies your electricity or natural gas while your local utility keeps delivering it. We’ll connect you with licensed retail energy suppliers and brokers who can show fixed-rate, variable and renewable plans for your utility, so you can compare before you commit. Free, no obligation.

Energy Plans

A good fit if you…

  • Live in a state with retail energy choice
  • Are on your utility’s default rate and have never shopped
  • Want a fixed rate to protect against seasonal spikes
  • Want 100% renewable supply
  • Run a small business with high energy use

What suppliers can show you

  • Fixed-rate plans for 6, 12, 24 or 36 months
  • Variable and introductory rates, and what happens when they end
  • 100% renewable or green energy plans
  • Natural gas supply plans
  • Early termination fees and renewal terms
Free and no obligation. You never pay Direct Media Services. Partners compensate us for the introduction; the price you are quoted is set by the carrier, provider or supplier.

What would you like to compare? *

Availability and pricing depend on where you live.

Free and no obligation. Your details go only to partners matched to your request.

Worth knowing

Three things to understand before you compare

Which states have energy choice

Electricity choice is available in states including Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Delaware and Rhode Island, plus the District of Columbia. Several more offer natural gas choice.

Supply vs. delivery

Your bill has two parts. Delivery is always your utility. Supply, the energy itself, is what you shop for. Switching never changes who fixes an outage.

Read the rate’s fine print

Compare the price per kWh or therm, the term length, and what the rate becomes at renewal. Many introductory rates rise after the first few months.

Energy Plans questions

Answers before you start

Will my service be interrupted?
No. Switching suppliers is a paperwork change. The same wires and pipes deliver your energy and your utility still handles outages.
Is it really free to switch?
Most suppliers charge no sign-up fee and your utility does not charge to switch. Some plans do have early termination fees, so check the contract before you sign.
Who is the retail supplier?
A company licensed by your state’s public utility commission to sell energy supply. We connect you with licensed suppliers and brokers; we don’t sell energy ourselves.
How do I know if my area is deregulated?
Enter your ZIP code and utility and we’ll tell you. Your utility bill will also show a “supply” or “generation” line you can compare against offers.
Does it cost anything to use this service?
No. Our service is free to you and there is no obligation. We are compensated by the suppliers and brokers in our network.

Disclosure. Direct Media Services, LLC is not a utility, retail energy supplier or licensed energy broker and does not sell energy. We connect consumers with licensed suppliers and brokers who set their own rates and terms. Availability depends on your state and utility. Rates are set by the supplier and may change at renewal.
